Unique Window Systems secure multi-room contracts with WarmCore

Unique Window Systems are having an astonishing year of success with Synseal Group’s WarmCore aluminium system, securing two more commercial contracts in Birmingham and Sheffield.

The two multi-room contracts are both being built with students and young professionals in mind, bringing much-needed rental accommodation to central locations in these two thriving multi-university cities – Summerfield Street in Sheffield and Newhall Square in Birmingham.

Most university cities are undersupplied with purpose-built student accommodation, with Property Week reporting last year that Birmingham was able to house less than 40% of its student populations in such buildings, and Sheffield slightly more.

Developers are taking advantage of this opportunity, particularly when locations with large student populations like in Birmingham are invoking Article 4 restrictions on changes of use from homes to houses of multiple occupation (HMOs), making it more difficult for students to find private accommodation in shared housing scenarios.

Sheffield has seen one of the largest increases in private student accommodation over the last few years. The Summerfield Street development is due for completion in the summer of 2019 and will comprise 237 apartments fitted with WarmCore windows, just a short walk from both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University campuses. The site has been unoccupied for many years, bringing regeneration to a central brownfield site with the addition of retailers, cafes, restaurants and a car park.

The Newhall Square site in Birmingham is a multi-million pound contract for Unique Window Systems to design, supply and install WarmCore windows and inline patio doors for a mixed plot of apartments, commercial spaces and town houses including refurbishment of an existing warehouse.

Sunil Patel, Joint Managing Director at Unique Window Systems, said:

“We have chosen the WarmCore system for these projects because of its excellent thermal properties and brilliant aesthetics which suit the needs of both these vibrant cities for modern accommodation buildings.

“WarmCore is well suited to regeneration projects and looks great with brickwork as well as cladded buildings. In regards to the Newhall Square development in Birmingham, we immediately identified WarmCore as the suitable system to complement the aesthetics of the city’s historic Jewellery Quarter.

“As soon as Unique Window Systems began fabricating the WarmCore system back in 2016, WarmCore proved to be a valuable asset in our product portfolio for our customers, for the trade, commercial and new-build markets.

“Great performance and aesthetics are always going to catch our customers’ attentions, when this is combined with our own impressive lead times and consistently high quality, through our significant production investment, it equates to the success we have been experiencing.”
